The challenges of the Law of attraction
Have you ever tried or wanted to try the Law of Attraction? Have you got that nudging feeling that it works for others but not for you? There are some challenges with the law of Attraction and This may be why it doesn’t work for you!
Just before Christmas, I set out on a reading challenge, reading, and reviewing 30 books in 30 days. It turned out to be a tall order and now in the beginning of March, I am ploughing through book number 24. Do I feel like a failure? Absolutely not! My main focus have been on self-help books, and I have learnt such a lot. I have read some of the books before, but it was a revelation to revisit them.
Over the years I have dabbled with the law of attraction, but have not really gotten anywhere, looking back I realise that there are massive challenges to overcome. Oh, I’m absolutely certain it works but I didn’t quite realise the amount of work that goes into making it work. This is what I would like to master by reading all these books and implement what they tell me to do.
To make it easier I will try to break it down and relay what I have learnt throughout my journey so far. As I still have the goal of 30 books and beyond, I am sure there are many aha-moments to come too. Only it will take a little longer than first expected.
Why do we fail?
The challenge I set out on is a perfect example! We set our goals at a too enthusiastic level. I listen to books and most of them take between 11 and 17 hours to listen to. As a single mum with a whole other life to care for, this was a little over the top. I stretched myself so far that I snapped. This may put you off altogether or make you feel like a failure. How to fix this! Rewrite your goals, I will still read 30 books, but it will take me a little longer, 3-4 months. This is absolutely ok and celebrate yourself because you did not give up.
Sometimes we set goals that are not attractive enough or aimed too low. The goal does not motivate you enough to carry on so you just quit short of having achieved anything.
Timing – how long does it take?
If you have ever felt as if your world crumbled, you would know that even getting out of bed could take all the energy you have. You read magazines and are scavenging for quick fixes. I’m really sorry to be the one to tell you that there is no such thing as a quick fix but having said that it doesn’t have to be an impossible project either. You just need to find small things you can include or tweak in your daily routine. Add one little thing at a time, it will make it less daunting, and you will be able to stick with it for longer, actually for the rest of your life.
Consistency – stick with it!
This brings me to the main culprit why we fail! Consistency! The law of attraction is a little bit like being on a diet. The first week is wonderful, you are full of enthusiasm and desire to get on the bandwagon. With a gratitude book in one hand and a pen in the other, you dive in and list things you are grateful for, just as happily as you live off 500kcal per day to see the pounds drop off your waistline at record speed. And yes, you do start to see some results and then you start to get comfortable. You feel like it doesn’t matter if you skip one day. That piece of chocolate or just one day without gratitude will not matter. One day turns into two days and before you know it you are simply not doing the exercises anymore, and in fact you are eating more than you did before you started your diet.
Try to hold yourself accountable in some way, this is about making your life better and the harsh thing is that it is you who has to do the work. In my next blogpost I will give you tips on what to start off with.
Visualising and projecting out into the Universe
The Universe brings you what you desire, but what are you really thinking of? Negative thoughts and limiting beliefs will make you self-sabotage more than you can ever imagine. If you do affirmations and gratitude for 20 minutes and then think negative thoughts for the rest of the time nothing much is going to happen in your life. Australian author Sandy Forster describes this very well in her book “How to Be Wildly Wealthy Fast”. There are many ways to up your positivity and increase your odds of getting more abundant.
Take care of your whole life
Feeling and being abundant is not only about money but also about your whole life! It is easier to manifest if you feel good about yourself and are in a happy place. Introduce one puzzle piece at a time and remember it is often easier to add than take away. If you want to eat healthier it is easier to add vegetables than removing things you already eat. After a while, you will start to feel the benefits and start to crave more healthy things. This goes for your law of attraction practice as well, add pieces as you find them and start paying more attention to what you actually think, every time you think something negative, rewrite it into something positive. This way you will slowly change your whole reality in a sustainable way. Tony Robbins describes this in a very good way in his speech “Unleash the power within” “Most people overestimate what they can do in 1 year but underestimate what they can do in 5”.
Lack of action
Another way that can make your manifesting journey fail before it even starts, is the lack of realisation that this is a two-part journey. You manifest and visualise for things to come into your life and yes, they are there waiting for you to take inspired action! Yes, you must take some form of consistent action for things to happen. Listen to the Universe, often opportunities come up and you must grab onto them. It is like the old saying “If you want to win the lottery, you have to buy the ticket”.
Many of us, me included read all the books but fail to implement the exercises. Now is a really good time to start implementing! Choose a book, find one or two things that you can do daily and Do them!
Also, remember that when you ask the Universe it must come from a feeling of abundance! If it comes from a feeling of lack, lack of what you want is what you are going to get. When you write in your gratitude book make sure you feel grateful. The challenges of the Law of Attraction is that you have to feel and believe it before you see it. This is not easy if you have been living in lack for a long time.
Conclusion; The challenges of the law of attraction
When manifesting a better life with the law of attraction there is a pattern you need to stick to. We have to change our whole mindset and this can take time to master but should get easier as you go. In the film “The Secret” one of the Law of Attraction gurus says that the process can be compared to planting a seed, you must care for the seed before it has even broken through the soil. If you stop caring, there will be no plant! You must have faith and stick to your plan even if nothing seems to happen because it does, you just cannot see it yet! “You will see it when you believe it” (Wayne Dyer).
