Anti inflammatory drugs are used to fight inflammation. Inflammation is the body´s emergency response when something is wrong. If the inflammation is close to the surface of your body you may feel the temperature in the local area rise, the area may also get red and swollen. You may also feel pain. This is why you sometimes need drugs to reduce the body’s inflammatory response. These drugs should be seen as an emergency aid only. It is important to find the reason behind the inflammation.

Herbs with anti inflammatory action

Some herbs may help to reduce inflammation. Different herbs are used depending on where the inflammation is situated. For example one commonly used anti inflammatory herb is Devils Claw which is used for aches and pains. Myrrh is a herb commonly used for inflamed mouth ulcers. Even some foods will help fight inflammation such as dark green leafy veg, pineapples, tomatoes, olive oil and oily fish. Inflammation can be found anywhere in the body which is one of the reasons to try to introduce a healthy diet. Sugar is one of the main dietary causes of inflammation, it is therefor a good idea to try to reduce the sugar intake.
