My lovely daughter is top of the list and this week is all about her and what makes her happy. Well that makes perfect sense to me, as if she’s happy so am I. Top of the list is playing with good friends, for us that means pack all the supplies and get on the ferry to the Emerald Isle – Ireland. A few days jam packed with play, ponies and some treats too.
When I was little and visited Ireland with my parents I allegedly said that “this place is sooo child friendly”, everywhere you looked there were droves of kids playing in the streets. This has changed in Ireland too, but we are lucky enough to have a large family of friends with plenty of kids just the right age. Even if it is tempting to leave your kids to it and kick back, take the opportunity to join in the fun. When was the last time you kicked a ball or used the swings or did the see – saw? A game of hide and seek or tag. Join in, think of all the calories you burn, doing something fun. Be crazy, not uptight!! This is how memories are made!
With holidays come holiday food
Holidays often mean spending time with loved ones and loads of activities. Time is less structured and food might not be a priority at the moment. Pizza, pasta and sweets might replace the healthy meals of the last few weeks. Do not worry too much. Having said that try to keep your focus, splash out but don’t overdo it.
If you could eat a whole pizza before, try settle for half a pizza now. Try share a bar of chocolate, try eating just one piece. It actually works if you practise keeping your focus. Once you know it works, it is also so much easier to have a relaxed relationship with food. BUT do not get too complacent! Weight loss does not happen overnight and neither do weight gain, it creeps onto us. Don’t be fooled by the scales, one treat is okay but ten treats every day is not. This is why we are here trying to diet. Sorry for spoiling the fun…
Another way of minimising the damage is to really think of what you eat for breakfast and lunch. Boiled eggs, fruit and veg are brilliant. My motto is “keeping it simple”. Do not mix too much, know what you put on your plate and make it work. This is why boiled eggs are brilliant, 80 kcal per egg, that’s well spent as eggs will keep you full for longer and provide loads of nutrients and energy too.
Don’t forget the sleep
Seriously, sleep is a vital part in weight loss and should not be overlooked! Take time out to rest. Holiday time often means late nights. And yes sometimes we want to squeeze in as much as possible into our holidays so we get up early as well. Try to find time to rest, you need it, your body needs it. And no do not feel bad about it, take a nap!
Positive thinking
Last weeks little exercise! Did you do it? Did you find a motivational speaker to suit your needs, a virtual mentor? This is important, much more important than I could ever imagine when i first started to look into it.
Manifesting is not just about money, it is about your whole life! Health, happiness, friends, everything around you and your life. This is where the saying; “Be careful what you wish for” comes from. If you focus on the bad thing, the things you are trying to get away from you are just going to manifest more of those things.
For instance feeling bad about being over weight. If you are focusing on all those bad feelings surrounding being over weight you will continue to eat bad things, not being able to stop and find all those excuses not to do something about it. It is all within you. This is a terribly brutal truth, it is a truth we have got to face. Same thing goes for money, have you ever been in a situation where you were worrying about paying a certain bill, then suddenly 4 more turns up unexpectedly. This is exactly the same thing!
Instead keep your focus, that bikini body and all that health surrounding it! Paint pictures in your head of what it is like to have that perfect weight body. Surround those pictures with love and happiness, make healthy meals desirable! Say out loud “I love my perfect body”, “I am beautiful”, “I love my new healthy and happy life”, “I am worthy!!”. Say these things out loud, add love, add happiness, reach for your soul, your unconscious mind. Reboot!
Cement the thought!!
Extend it to making a vision board. Put your head on the body you desire. Write affirmations around it such as I am perfect! I am healthy! I love my perfect body! I love my perfect life! Let’s make this the exercise for next week! And remember it is actually a good thing doing this old school. Get your pens, paper, scissors and glue out and start “arts and crafting”.
